I have a very direct way of working, and my process is very much like action painting where the work comes from deep within my psyche.
With the Inferno series I used Dante's well known work and translated it through my own spiritual experiences. The work was built up in layers, and with a limited palette of colour, so that the emphasis is on the imagery and drawn line.
Lake George was inspired by what is a spiritual place for a lot of artists, and which has been a meeting place for much longer than the period of white settlement of this country.
". . . . a picture is not thought out and determined in advance; the painter follows the notion of his thoughts. Sensation . . . . is interpreted at the very moment it is born . . . . during the execution of the work."
